Its been pretty hectic over here so haven’t had a lot of spare to time to update so here goes a piece of what’s been going on over the last week or so.
I arrived in Las Vegas 2 weekends ago and it was a bit of a culture shock for the guy who grew up in Waitara, Taranaki, and NZ. Bright lights massive things, gambling and money. Who would have thought we were in an economic crisis. Here Luke Strobel, Sabrina Jonnier and I spent a few days training before fox turned up with some new suspension for our bikes. So we did a couple of days worth of runs on the new bikes and then worked with fox to dial the settings in and proceed to get time on the new Rocky Mountain flat line wc. I managed to sneak a ride to the Hoover dam in to see a bridge being built over a 2km deep canyon which actually impressed me more than the dam.

To Fontana we drove for the second US cup XC and the last ODI Southridge winter dh/4x. The track was similar to the previous Norba races had here dusty and a massive sting of a sprint to the finish which I had been to before so no surprises there. Luke took time out to finish the healing of his collar bone so Sabrina, Geoff Kabush and I flew the flag for Maxxis/Rocky Mountain. I was happy to get some more time in on the bike and I feel like I have bonded with her nicely so far. I ended up 3rd behind Eric Carter on a 2.11.2, 2nd Kevin Aiello 2.11.5 and myself 2.12.8 not too bad behind some locals on my 18 run old bike. Geoff Kabush took another XC national win equalling John Tomacs all time record. Sicko!

We are just arriving in Boulder, CO now just out of Denver with the truck and trailer. We have seen the desert, Mountains, rain, sunshine and a fair amount of snow on the trip. Still snow on the ground here in boulder so we hope it melts for some more DH action and training on the new bikes here this week. I am off to South Africa on the 2nd of April and arrive on the 4th in Durban so will keep you posted on my first lap of the world for 2009.
