If you're a junior and want to get fast... Welcome to the…. 2010-2011 AKDH RACERHEAD Development Program ….designed to prepare Auckland’s fastest juniors for the 2010-2011 Competition season. A fast rider has highly developed mental, physical, technical and bike set-up abilities… This course has been designed to develop: · awareness - enabling a rider to compare themselves to the very best in terms of the skills listed above · methods by which these skills can be improved · an understanding of the importance for balance between these skills · opportunities to practice these techniques This will be worked out progressively through the PreSeason and into the season through a combination of the following ‘contact’ sessions: · Monthly shuttle days with at least one coach dedicated to the program participants to maximise the benefit of these opportunities. (Some of these may be piggybacked on other AKDH shuttle days to minimise demands on parents and club support) · Monthly theory sessions (2-3hrs on a weeknight), it is likely these will morph into other on bike activities as we near the end of the year. · Additional monthly ½ Sat or Sun sessions on mtb at forest. · A one-off ‘camp’. Outside of this, assistance will also be provided to all participants to develop, monitor and modify personal programs designed to guide the student into high levels of capability across all the abilities in the time outside the contact sessions. The coaches will be: · Steve Chapman who will be focusing on the above, providing all participants with foundational skills that will maximise the benefit of the time spent later in the PreSeason with… · Byron Scott who will join us at some events to really turn it up a notch! We are hoping to also have some ‘guest appearances’……. The benefits for the riders are twofold….. 1) This program has been designed to maximise the opportunities for AKLD riders to make you as fast and consistent as possible and therefore more likely to achieve your goals than if you were to do this thing unassisted. 2) You will be part of the AKDH Junior Development Race team – what does this mean? · Seat in team shuttle bus where the numbers of riders make this feasible · You get the mental edge that comes with being a part of a ‘team’, this not only helps you……it puts pressure on others not connected like this. · Named team jerseys · And all the other support that comes from being connected to AKDH. The costs for the Racerhead Program are still to be confirmed. First session is provisionally planned for Monday 30th August. Are you in?...... Please contact Steve Chapman on 029 295-8343 or 835-0389 a/hrs to register your interest (or ask any questions etc). Official registration will commence Fri 6th August and close Fri 27th August. A provisional calendar of events will be posted on the AKDH website on around 7th August. |
